The Capsule

The Capsule

Our capsules, unlike many that contain plastic and aluminum, are made entirely from polypropylene — which is not only recyclable, but also highly incinerable, meaning that if for some reason it doesn’t reach its proper recycling center, it easily disintegrates along with common household trash.

We designed our capsules to be the lightest in the market, resulting in less material getting thrown away. Even if it’s only a milligram here or a milligram there, compounded by a 15 billion capsule/year industry, that ends up being a lot of milligrams! We want to serve as an example, propelling the entire industry into realizing the importance of continuously devising sustainable solutions.

On that note, we’re at the cutting-edge of developing fully biodegradable capsules, so keep an eye out for us.

The Machine

Our patented espresso machine, Bossa, goes above and beyond in energy efficiency. After 5 minutes of inactivity, it automatically enters power-saving mode, which allows it to run on less than half a Watt. In other words, one hundred Bossa machines in standby spend less energy than a single lightbulb.

Bossa machines are made to last a lifetime, but, if they don’t, MoCoffee will exchange a faulty machine for a new one; refurbishing used parts to ensure that as little material as possible winds up in a landfill.
